■Marty Friedman's Profile
After his work with CACOPHONY and other projects, he joined MEGADETH in 1990. He led the band into becoming a global supergroup with massive album sales, supported its golden era, and became a guitarist with a passionate fanbase around the world.

As he toured Japan repeatedly, he became well-versed in Japanese culture and even studied the Japanese language through a correspondence course while on a world tour.

After leaving MEGADETH, he relocated his base of operations from Los Angeles to Shinjuku, Tokyo in 2004.

From 2005, he appeared as the main MC on the legendary rock variety show “Hebimeta-san” (TV Tokyo), astonishing not only Japan’s metal fans but also metalheads around the world through YouTube. The show’s sequel, “ROCK FUJIYAMA”, which aired starting in 2007, continues to gain international attention online to this day.

From 2006 to 2008, he served as the image character for the Japan Iron and Steel Federation. He went on to appear in numerous programs on NHK and other major networks, contributed to magazines and newspapers, and published his first book in 2008 titled “Ee Jan! J-POP: That’s Why I Came to Japan”, which became a bestseller. That same year, he acted in the film “Gu Gu Datte Neko de Aru” alongside Kyoko Koizumi.

Demonstrating his unique presence as a super guitarist and Japan enthusiast, his activities now extend beyond guitarist, composer, and music producer roles. He crosses borders and industries, appearing in events, TV, radio, commercials, and films.

In 2017, he was appointed as a Japan Heritage Ambassador by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, promoting Japanese culture both domestically and internationally. He continues to thrive as a multi-faceted artist.

On February 27, 2023, he reunited with MEGADETH for the first time in 24 years at a performance at Nippon Budokan.
