ASTERISM LIVE TOUR 2026 “Untitled” – Tokyo Final (SOLD OUT)

The ASTERISM Tokyo show held on February 1 at Spotify O-WEST in Shibuya proved to be an occasion that clearly demonstrated how this young virtuoso trio is currently standing at a highly significant and fascinating turning point. This performance marked the final date of their four-city nationwide tour, titled “ASTERISM Live Tour 2026 ‘Untitled.’” The choice of the word “Untitled” was deliberate: the band did not wish to tie this tour to any specific release.
Considering that their latest album, “Kick Down the Wall,” had been released just three days before the tour’s opening show in Fukuoka, one might naturally expect the tour to serve as a full-scale presentation of that album’s world. However, rather than immediately plunging headfirst into the universe of a new work whose title literally urges listeners to “kick down the wall,” the trio instead chose to present who they are now—having passed through every stage of their evolution thus far—right at the threshold of that new chapter.
A few minutes after the scheduled 6:00 PM start time, the venue fell into darkness. The three members took the stage dressed in black-based outfits faithful to the new visuals unveiled with “Kick Down the Wall.” Compared to their previous, more colorful and individually distinct images, the shift in mood was immediately palpable, conveying a strong determination to show their current, unfiltered selves. The opening choice was unexpected: “OVERDRIVE,” an instrumental track from their 2018 debut full-length album “IGNITION.” Rather than representing their present, it stands as one of the songs closest to their origins. What struck this writer at that moment was the sense that ASTERISM’s current position exists directly above the coordinates of their original starting point.
Following this opening—natural yet loaded with meaning—HAL-CA delivered her first greeting before the band launched into “Blink of Ray.” As has already been discussed in various interviews, the creation of this song, which opens “Kick Down the Wall,” unlocked a new realm of possibility for ASTERISM during the album’s production process. Its sheer impact, brought to life through extraordinarily precise performance, makes it a strong contender for their latest signature song. Vocally as well, the track carries a newfound persuasive power born from the band’s prior ventures into more pop-oriented songwriting. HAL-CA’s voice, once prone to a naturally cute texture that contrasted intriguingly with the band’s technical and stoic performances, now feels fully aligned with the sound itself—as though she has found a vocal expression that truly belongs within it. The same can be said of MIYU, whose ferocious shouts emerge while commanding crushing low-end power on a seven-string bass.
As “BLACK CLOUDS” followed “Blink of Ray” in the exact sequence of the new album, it became even clearer that this “Untitled” tour was meant to highlight the overlap between the band’s origins and their present location. Over the course of the night, ASTERISM performed five songs from “Kick Down the Wall” and five from “IGNITION.” This balance seemed to confirm that the band, even at its very beginning, possessed a clear vision—and that they had been aiming toward their current position all along.
Of course, this does not mean they are attempting to erase the challenges they have faced along the way. Rather, they have fully digested those experiences, reached a state they can confidently call their strongest yet, and are now practicing what might be described as a forward-looking return to their roots. And naturally, they have not forgotten what inspired them during that process of evolution and deepening. As the show progressed from its early to middle stages, following a powerful and razor-sharp drum solo by MIO, the band welcomed a special guest to the stage: Marty Friedman. Beginning with “GYUTTO!!,” which garnered widespread attention via THE FIRST TAKE last year, the collaboration continued for three songs. Watching ASTERISM exchange musical dialogue with Marty—despite the generation-spanning age difference—was as exhilarating as ever, and above all, their performances radiated the unmistakable joy shared by everyone involved.
What mattered most, however, was that the energy in the room continued to rise even after this special guest left the stage. From there, the band alternated between songs from “Kick Down the Wall” and “IGNITION,” culminating in a decisive declaration: “No encore—we’re giving everything we’ve got and heading home!” What followed was a relentless finale of “BLAZE,” “HOMESHIP,” and the closing track “DAWN.” The tightly packed, approximately 80-minute set—utterly devoid of any lull—silently conveyed that this band, now more than a decade into their career yet still in their early twenties, is not merely “impressive for being young,” but rather has reached an unprecedented level of excellence while still possessing vast room to grow.
This point, however, is not a destination for ASTERISM—only a passage. The story surrounding “Kick Down the Wall” is just beginning in earnest. For that reason alone, their upcoming live show “Kick Down the ‘WWWall’” at Shibuya WWW on May 31 is unmissable, and it is impossible not to feel excited about how this band’s potential will continue to unfold. On this night as well, they unquestionably shattered another wall. One can only offer applause and congratulations for their commanding presence.
